Panelboard Cutting Machine – Scheer, HS BACO PANELS

Objective:

The automation and modernization of the panelboard cutting machine at the HS BACO PANELS factory were achieved through a retrofit process, upgrading from an old control system based on Siemens Step 5 to modern, state-of-the-art motion control technologies. The purpose of this upgrade was to increase cutting precision and speed, as well as to improve operational reliability and flexibility. The new solution allows for finer control of machine movements, optimizing productivity and reducing unplanned downtime.

Description:

  • Advanced control of linear and rotational movements for precise panel cutting
  • Optimizing the cutting process through self-regulating functions and adaptation to variable panelboard dimensions
  • Synchronizing cutting movements with material loading and unloading
  • Dynamic monitoring and adjustment of the speed and position of cutting tools to ensure consistent cutting quality
  • Real-time diagnostics of equipment status and failure prevention
  • Ensuring redundancy and operational safety by integrating a modern control system

Technologies Used:

  • Siemens PLC and motion control modules for precise movement control
  • HMI graphical interface for real-time monitoring and adjustment of cutting parameters
  • Next-generation servo controllers for dynamic movement control
  • Profinet communication for fast data exchange between equipment and continuous monitoring

Services:

  • PLC, HMI programming, and configuration of the motion control system
  • Commissioning (PIF) and calibration of cutting systems
  • Post-implementation technical support for maintenance and performance optimization
