OSB Warehouse Automation for Kronospan Riga, Latvia

A landmark project in industrial automation has been successfully completed for Kronospan in Riga, Latvia. The project involved the full automation of a 12-ton industrial trolley designed to optimize the handling and distribution of OSB pallets within the factory.

Technical Specifications and Key Features:

  1. Autonomous Operation
The trolley moves along a rail track, picks up OSB pallets directly from the production lines, and autonomously distributes them to the packaging lines. The entire process is fully automated, eliminating the need for human intervention.
  2. High-Performance Drive and Mobility
    • The movement system is configured in 4×4, ensuring optimal traction and stability even under maximum load.
    • The trolley can reach a travel speed of 2000 mm/s, significantly reducing pallet transfer time.
    • SEW drives were used for superior controllability and efficiency in the trolley’s movements.
  3. High-Precision Positioning
The system ensures precise positioning, critical for integration with factory processes and for maintaining production flow continuity.
  4. Complete Integration into the Factory Infrastructure
The automation system was implemented using Siemens equipment, ensuring full compatibility and integration with the factory’s existing SCADA and automation systems. This approach enables centralized monitoring and control, enhancing process efficiency and safety.
  5. Direct Benefits
    • Operational Efficiency: reduced handling times and operational costs.
    • Enhanced Safety: elimination of manual pallet handling.
    • Flexibility: the system can be adjusted to meet the dynamic requirements of production.

This project showcases our team’s expertise and capability to deliver customized automation solutions for highly complex industries. Kronospan Riga now benefits from a modern, reliable, and efficient system that significantly contributes to optimizing production workflows.
